Veltheimia Bracteata Lemon Flame

Description
Veltheimia bracteata 'Lemon Flame', commonly known as Lemon Flame Forest Lily, is a stunning bulbous perennial that adds a pop of cheerful color to shaded garden areas or indoor plant displays. Its striking flower spikes feature tubular, lemon-yellow blooms with green tips, creating a fresh and elegant display during the late winter to early spring season. The flowers rise above glossy, wavy-edged green leaves, which remain attractive even when the plant is not in bloom. Native to South Africa, this drought-tolerant plant thrives in partial shade and well-drained, humus-rich soils. It is ideal for winter gardens or as a houseplant in cooler regions. Lemon Flame is low-maintenance and long-lived, providing seasonal interest when most other plants are dormant. While it prefers mild climates, it can be grown in containers and brought indoors during frosts.
Sowing Advice
Seeds may be sown at any time of the year onto a well-drained compost and covered very thinly indeed with compost or grit, leaving some of the seed showing as light may aid germination. Keep the pot moist at a temperature of between 18 and 22 degrees C in a well-lit position. Seeds should germinate within 2 to 6 weeks but may take longer. Pot on into small pots before finally planting into a large pot, or outside in warmer countries.
