In stock
Description
Phlomis cashmeriana. Kashmir Sage, is an exceptionally beautiful purple-flowered Phlomis that grows on dry valley slopes in Kashmir and Pakistan and is also found in Afghanistan. The flowers are among the most vividly coloured of all the Phlomis with dense whorled verticillasters of hooded blooms arranged at intervals up the flowering stems. It has large aromatic oblong-lanceolate leaves that are woolly on the under-surfaces and can grow up to 30 cm long. A herbaceous perennial, Phlomis cashmeriana requires a sunny aspect and well-drained substrate to which gavel or grit has been added and a good mulch in winter.
Sowing Advice
Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.
