Lilium Ledebourii
In stock
Description
Known only from a few scattered localities in Iran and Azerbaijan this is a serious contender for being the loveliest of all lilies. Strong spikes carry ten to twenty creamy white, very perfumed flowers, each petal having a greenish yellow centre speckled with red-purple, and very outstanding red anthers. This plant is very rare both in the wild and in cultivation, but is easy to grow, whether in acid or alkali soil. These seeds have been harvested from garden grown plants.
Sowing Advice
Sow seeds at any time, covering them very thinly with compost or grit, keeping the seed pot in a cool, well-lit spot outdoors. Artificial heat is not needed and can prevent germination so be very patient as many species will only germinate in the spring after chilling or freezing in the moist seed pot in the winter. Grow on individual seedlings in small pots until of sufficient size to be potted on or planted out into the open ground.
